Ulaanbaatar Entertainment Center

Creating Mongolia's first full scale entertainment center.

With an ever increasing income per capita coupled with a demographically young population, the need for good entertainment options is increasingly evident.

Ulaanbaatar currently lacks in entertainment options which are not based around food or alcohol, the two cinemas in the city are consistently packed and the single bowling alley is ever more popular.

Ulaanbaatar is in desperate need of a good family friendly entertainment center within the city boundaries. The center does not need to be within the heart of the city but can rather be located within the Khan-Uul district of Ulaanbaatar (the old factory district) as it has easy access to the city center and the factory district will provide a cost effective and efficient solution for the entertainment center as well as an adequate backdrop with accessible land.

The entertainment center would appeal to young families and kids as well as more mature audiences due to its diverse offering and could of course additionally be used for corporate events throughout the year. As it is indoor, it would be open year round with a number of shifts running through the day as some of the activities at the center such as the climbing wall would open early while Go-Karting and indoor skateboarding could be open until 2am.

Due to extreme weather conditions in Mongolia, the majority of activities will need to be indoors, this leaves the potential for indoor activities such as Go-Karting, laser guns (quest), climbing wall, skateboard park, bowling alley, arcade games, snooker halls, fast food outlets and an indoor mixed use hire venue. During the summer months, some activities can be extended outside such as go-karting or skateboarding.

How would it work?

The old factory district of Ulaanbaatar (Khan-Uul) is being gradually redeveloped into a warehousing, retail and storage space close to the city center of Ulaanbaatar. The district is currently filled with disused warehouses and factories that would be perfect for the purposes of an entertainment center. The premises needs to be a stand alone warehouse that can be either rented or bought.

If needed, the warehouse can be sealed and protected from the elements. The warehouse itself would need little renovation and structuring as the activities are themselves easy to install and run without excessive renovation requirements. The activities chosen are very cost efficient and easy to maintain as well as popular with a wide variety of age groups.

The importation of necessary equipment such as go-karts, climbing equipment and bowling items is relatively easy and quick as well as cost effective as it is all likely to fit within a 40foot container.

Further funding could be obtained through sponsorships and corporate deals as well as leasing space to outlets for things such as fast food, drinks and retail.

In time the facilities can be expanded to include further fast food, retail and entertainment outlets.
