MPP'S FACTION DISCUSSES AIR POLLUTION IN MONGOLIA
The Mongolian People's party's faction at parliament has discussed a law draft on reducing Ulaanbaatar city's air pollution.
The bill has been submitted by the President.
The faction has supported it in principle. As we informed before, the draft proposes lowering the night time electricity price to zero, aiming thus to let the city’sger districts use all possible electric heaters at nights instead of burning coal. The second issue discussed was a law draft on Millennium Road program, submitted by the Government. The bill was supported, too. The Government’s amendments are caused by a neccesity to change a route that was to cross Arkhangai and Zavkhan aimags. As it has turned out, these provinces are located on permafrost. Within the Millennium Road program, some 5 thousand km roads are to be run along the vertical and horizontal axes. For the time being, 2,000 kilometers have been laid although the work started in 2001. As it is said, the main reason of such a delay is money.
