As Mongolia's economy booms, it is essential that fast and efficient transport links be put in place to allow foreign investors easy access to the Mongolian Heartland.

This will also allow MIAT to fly to new routes such as London, Dubai, Cape Town and Sao Paulo. MIAT has stated that they are not overly concerned by the Concorde's safety track record saying that it was only one accident over the course of many years of good services, statistically, the Concorde is safer than nearly any other commercial jet. Bringing the Concorde to Mongolia is of course a huge undertaking, it not only requires the investment in the planes themselves but also setting up the maintenance infrastructure in Mongolia. The purchase of the new Concorde jets is set to coincide with the opening of the new Ulaanbaaar International airport (whose plans are being modified to accommodate the new planes) as well as the proposed privatisation of MIAT and the mining boom & property boom in Mongolia. A MIAT press release states that this part of the greater plan of transforming the Ulaanbaatar International airport into a north asian hub for fast transport to the rest of the region. "we aim to bring Mongolian air transport to forefront of the world, the Concorde is still the world's most sophisticated jet and its inclusion in the MIAT fleet will make the company one of the most advanced in the world. British Airways currently maintains 3 planes while Air France has 2, those are the last Concordes in the world that are still deemed to be operational. Each jet is thought to be purchased with a price tag of 120 million USD, this is without maintenance and spare parts. While MIAT does not currently have the funds to invest in the program, it is hoping that an international listing will allow it to raise the required funds.
