612 new taxis in Ulaanbaatar in 2011
In 2011 the Ulaanbaatar Public Transportation Office has implemented programs to generate jobs and to improve service and the working conditions of drivers.
Large bus service has been added on six new routes and the number of buses has increased by 43
Bus stands have been repaired and works to improve traffic safety have been carried out. Also, new bus stand information desks have been built. About 400 buses were switched from diesel fuel to cleaner-burning natural gas to reduce air pollution. Some state vehicles were equipped with emissions-reducing devices. The office also says eight new taxi stands have been constructed and 612 new taxis were put into service in Ulaanbaatar in 2011.
